Drawn To Life 2019 - a people art exhibition in Penzance Cornwall, in June

Amidst the music and dancing of Penzance's Golowan Festival another ancient craft thrives as Redwing Gallery show new work from local artists who draw and paint from life. The Drawn To Life 2019 exhibition features ten local artists who draw regularly, showing work in a wide variety of sizes and media.

Figure drawing is a classic artist's practice and a way of training the eye and hand, and attempts the simplest and yet the most challenging subject: what is a living human being and how do we see that? The exhibition is a chance to see how artists from all walks of life respond with pens, pencils, brushes, paint, ipads, printing, and clay at a weekly drop-in life drawing group in Penzance.

The group also enjoys a wide variety of skilled models, with poses from humble to heroic, from chainsawing to broompushing to pregnancy, athletics, famous works of art, and even unpredictable poses randomly suggested by software in the delightful form of the online Random Pose Generator at www.lifedrawing.me/random

The exhibition takes place at Redwing Gallery in Penzance, a Community Interest Company supporting a wide range of arts and music, with a vegan cafe and artists' studios on site.
